The MET too youth company is a non-competitive, concert-based repertory dance company for dancers ages 13-18. Housed exclusively at the METdance Center in midtown Houston, the company is designed to provide young dancers with a rigorous program comprised of technical and expressive classwork, and fully designed concert dance performances. The MET too serves as an excellent preparation for dance programs at universities and a professional career in dance performance. MET too alumni have achieved the highest levels of success, with many attending top level arts institutions like the Juilliard School, Point Park University, University of Arizona etc., and ultimately attaining professional status as solo and company performing artists.
Dancers must audition each year to be in the program and train four days a week (Tuesday, Wedneday and Thursday from 6-9PM and Saturday from 10AM-5PM) in Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Jazz, and Contemporary idioms. Members are exposed to a variety of Master Classes by acclaimed visiting artists and work closely with METdance company members and Artistic Director, Marlana Doyle. Currently, the MET too has a full home season featuring three unique concert dance programs and special guest appearances with the METdance professional company at their Season Kickoff and Sizzling Summer Dance concerts. The company learns up to seven new works each season by award-winning choreographers and boasts its own impressive catalogue of repertory. Additionally, the MET too participates in many local and regional festivals throughout the year. Tuition will be a monthly fee.
