Recital Showcase Participation and Ticket details
Last Day of Children and Youth Classes May 11th 2024
Recital Showcase Performance Date: May 18th 2024 @ 2:30pm
Drop Off Schedule
All Youth (8-13) Ballet/Jazz/Modern are to be dropped off at 12:15pm
All Dance Discovery and Creative Ballet (3-7) are to be dropped off at 12:30pm
A dress rehearsal run through will begin promptly at 1:00pm - Parents will not be permitted in the Theater to watch this rehearsal
Performance begins are 2:30pm
Students are to be Dropped off at the Theatre One Door which is located on the south side of the Heinen Theater in the plaza area (download pdf here or see map at the bottom of the page)
All Students will be released to their parents from the stage at the end of the performance: Dance Discovery students first, then Youth.
When students are dropped they should be in costume with shoes in hand. Staff will hand you back any bags, extra things brought with students. Only the student in costume with the appropriate shoes will be allowed backstage.
For students in multiple dances, bring only the extra costume and shoes if required, no extra items will be allowed.
Costumes, hair and makeup
Hair - please wear hair pulled back away from your face. If your hair tends to come out of a hair tie, please use bobby pins to secure it.
Makeup - Makeup is not required. If your child does wear makeup, it can be light makeup, enough to highlight your child’s everyday look.
Houston Met Dance will provide the main elements for costumes. Listed below are items we will not provide and are needed for recital.
Creative Ballet

Dance Discovery
Pink or skin tone ballet shoes OR black jazz shoes
Youth (8 - 13 years)
Ballet - Ballet shoes
Jazz - Jazz shoes
Modern - Bare Feet
The Lobby Doors will open at 2:00pm and the performance will start at 2:30pm
This performance will be General Seating
The front row will be for those patrons that have mobility concerns
An elevator is available to reach the high levels of seating
Remember that this theater only seats 275 and every seat is a good seat

Free Parking for all patrons is located at the Garage Parking - entrance is from Alabama & LaBranch
Once patrons park, you will walk around the Fine Arts Building to the Plaza Area
Drop off your student and then you may relax in the Plaza area until the Lobby Opens.
We do anticipate the weather will be warm and unfortunately the Theatre is not able to accommodate early arrivals.
If you do decide to leave and return we suggest being back at the Theater no later than 2:15pm to ensure enough time to get you seat.
Once Lobby Doors Open - patrons will check in with HMD staff and be allowed to enter. Your entire party must be present to enter and be seated.
