Dancing the Sound: a live music and dance improvisation laboratory Facilitated by Misha Penton
Monday October 19th | 11:30a - 1:00p | Houston Met Dance
Dancing the Sound is a creative laboratory where live music and dance improvisation unfold together in real time.
Misha facilitates a creative ecosystem of movement and music that nurtures attention, collaboration, and play. Through her evolving vocal and electronic soundscapes, participants will engage in a partnership with sound, where movement and music influence each other.
Throughout the workshop, Misha offers gentle movement prompts that invite the exploration of qualities such as listening, dynamics, tempo, rhythm, relationship, space, stillness, and presence. The emphasis is on curiosity, creative responsiveness, and embodied discovery in a safe, nonjudgemental atmosphere.
The workshop includes guided improvisational scores; individual, partner, and ensemble movement explorations; structured open improvisation; and reflection and discussion.
