Introductory Classes are 6 Week Sessions, with 1 Class Per Week
Cost: $112/Session
HMD Adult Intro Ballet Course Levels:
Intro Ballet I – No previous dance experience
This courses are designed for students with no previous knowledge or experience, or for those with prior dance experience who wish to refresh their knowledge of terminology and foundational technique after time away. Intro I also acts as an introduction to Houston Met Dance, its faculty, office staff and all the engaging classes offered.
Students typically take 2-4 consecutive 6-week sessions if they are brand new to dance and 1-2 consecutive 6-week sessions if they have previous dance experience.
Intro Ballet II – For students that have completed Intro Ballet I
These courses are designed for students who have attended at least one Intro I session and are now interested in moving forward. Intro II also acts as an introduction to Houston Met Dance, its faculty, office staff and all the engaging classes offered.
Students typically take 2-4 consecutive 6-week sessions if they are brand new to dance and 1-2 consecutive 6-week sessions if they have previous dance experience.
HMD Adult Intro Ballet Course Basics
Lessons build from class to class and HMD Ballet faculty will work through a specific 6 weeks curriculum where students learn classical ballet techniques and terminology. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations.
The goal of our intro adult courses is the matriculation of students into our beginning-level classes.
Our intro courses are designed to progress through the 6 weeks and are not set up to accommodate drop-in or single-class attendance.
Make - ups: Due to the specific number of classes in the session and the limited number of spots available, Make-Ups are NOT be available within the intro program.
If a student misses a class they are encouraged to early cancel ahead of time so that they can use that class credit once they have matriculated into beginning level classes.

Space is LIMITED. There are NO REFUNDS and NO PRORATING. Your registration and payment signify a commitment to the 6 specifically scheduled weeks.
You are purchasing a course of scheduled classes that runs 6 weeks, not a class card that you can use at will.
Students will not be admitted into classes if they are more than 15 minutes late.
HMD can not accommodate class observations. If you have never danced before, this is the place to start. If you have danced before or have a regular movement practice (yoga, aerobics, martial arts, etc.) and are concerned that Intro might be too slow for you, we recommend that you register for a single class at the beginning level and let the instructor know your concerns/ curiosities at the start of class. You are also encouraged to follow up with the instructor after class for additional class suggestions if desired.

Student Responsibilities, Cancellations, and Make-ups:
Students are responsible for tracking their purchase expiration dates and class credits.
Students are able to cancel reservations before class starts through their MindBody accounts.
Only classes that have been cancelled directly are saved as class credits.
Class credits never expire and can be used to register for any class on the Open Adult Schedule.
No Shows are not automatically cancelled. Cancellation is the responsibility of the student. If you miss the cancellation window contact classes@metdance.org
Make - ups: Due to the specific number of classes in the session and the limited number of spots available, make-ups are not be available within the intro program.
Additional Information:
Walk up registration is available for classes that have not reached capacity.
We are not able to accommodate observers including children and siblings of registered dancers.

What to expect when you arrive:
Please be sure to read through the checklist below to ensure you are prepared for our check-in process, and be sure you have reviewed the ADULT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES PAGE.
1. Check-in will begin 15 minutes before class start time.
2. Please enter the double glass doors located on Main Street. DO NOT USE THE SIDE OR BACK DOORS
3. Don’t forget your water bottle.
4. Students will not be admitted into classes if they are more than 15 minutes late.
5. Exit is through the doorways that lead directly to the parking lot.
Houston Met Dance reserves the right to ask any person to leave if they are not adhering to our stated policies and procedures.
